Submission Guidelines

General Information

  • Conditions permitting, the magazine is published approximately two months after the deadline.
  • Neither gN/aN nor the FCN is responsible for any loss due to delays in printing or distributing the magazine, nor for damage to or loss of contributed materials.

Articles, letters, etc.

  • All contributors take full responsibility for the accuracy of their material and for clearing any necessary copyrights or similar permissions.
  • Generally, submissions should not appear elsewhere first in print (e.g. in another magazine). In the event that they do, such information must be given to the Editor. If Going Natural is to reprint, the author of the article must first supply written permission for this from the magazine in which the submission first appeared.
  • Preferred are articles by FCN members (individual, family, or corporate), and those on a Canadian subject or one relating to Canadian naturists (e.g. travel, health).
  • Photographs with or without articles may reflect any suitable aspect of naturism.
  • Articles, letters, etc. may be in English or French. Other European languages are acceptable upon confirmation from the Editor and will be translated.
  • Longer letters should normally not exceed 300 words, and articles 1100 words. If in doubt, check with the Editor before writing. All submissions are subject to editing, and not all items submitted may be printed.
  • Please include sufficient Canadian postage stamps or international postal reply coupons, if you wish to have your material returned.
  • Items which are not time-sensitive and have not been printed in an issue may be kept for a future issue unless requested otherwise.

 Photographs

  • All photos for publication should be sent to the Editor.
  • Please send only high quality photos. They may be sent as e-mail attachments, on disk, or as prints or slides in the regular mail.
  • Photos from digital cameras must be at a minimum of 300 dpi at a size of 10 x 15 cm, preferably bigger. If a photo's resolution is lower than 300, you must divide to get the true printable size. For example, if your camera puts out 72 dpi, divide both dimensions by 300/72 (or multiply by 0.24).
  • Send photos as originally taken unless you are very experienced at editing them.
  • If you can, identify the photo location, suggest a caption, and state who took the photo, roughly when, and if there is no objection, the names of the people in it. Please do not send photos with the date imprinted on the image.
  • Photos including a person under 18 must be accompanied by a release in the form of a signature of both the child (if able to write) and a person responsible for the child. The permission should state clearly the name and address of the person legally responsible. This information will not appear in the magazine. Click here for a copy of the release form.
  • If print photos are to be sent electronically, they should be scanned professionally at no fewer than 300 lines per inch in a size of no fewer than 10 x 15 cm, preferably bigger. Uncompressed TIFF files are best, but JPEG highest quality and EPS are usually acceptable. For a mailing compression routine, we prefer .sit and .zip formats. Don't compress photos within TIFF, and don't save JPEG files more than once, because that induces loss of data in the photos.
